Fun for Who? A visit in Holland to Fun 4 Two
We had heard about Fun 4 Two and were very excited to spend a few nights at the club. A friend who is from Holland told us it is one of the best clubs in the world. Based on his recommendation we planned to stop there on a recent European vacation.
For those who are not familiar with Holland (we were not), the club is in a very remote area. In Uber terms, it cost $125 to get there from the airport. Bottom line, it’s pretty far out there.
The club is an old house and sits on a rather large piece of property. It is quite beautiful and picturesque with its foliage and scattering of wild roosters (maybe they were chickens?) running about. We also spotted what looked like homing pigeons in a tree on the property.
We arrived around 9:00 and there were many cars pulling in at the same time we arrived. Parking was easy but it was raining (it rained every day we were there) and so we got a bit wet walking from the parking lot to the club.
Upon entering the club, we had to stop and check in. The owners were stationed immediately inside the front door and were signing couples in and collecting money. The woman was relatively friendly however, the man was not. It was rather odd to be “greeted†by someone who never smiled or made us feel welcome. In fact, we both felt a bit intimidated by him.
We entered the club and we were impressed by both the style and the size. The main floor consists of a bar, a nice size dance floor and seating area. Most of the couches are located away from the dance floor in a small area close to the bar. The dance floor is a good size and the dj is located in a dark corner.
At the end of this room, if you walk up a few steps, this is where the dining area is located. There were about 10 small round tables set up and a decent spread of food. It was all fresh and there were cold slices of meat and a tiny electric grill to cook them on. They had a few salad options, breads and fruit. Even the pickiest eater could find something to nibble on.
The play area is vast and is a labyrinth of different types of rooms to explore and to play in. This was an exciting area to see, as was the hot tub and still another bar upstairs overlooking the hot tub.
The problem? The people. First of all, they tout the club as being an international club. We have been there two times, and both times almost every single person we met was from Holland. Obviously we did not meet everyone, but we did try talk to many people. Most, honestly, were very unfriendly. We are a clean, in good shape, good looking, well dressed couple. We smile and really enjoy meeting people.
What we discovered in Holland, was a culture of people who don’t smile and are not particularly interested in meeting “outsidersâ€. They seemed especially disinterested when they discovered we were American. The only friendly people we actually did meet, were the other two couples who were not from Holland.
The play areas were very quiet considering how busy the club was. When we did spot others playing, we never saw any couples swapping. They mostly played with their spouse (or whatever) and played side by side with another couple.
At 11:00 you must change into lingerie. Even the men must be wearing underwear. That sounded like it would be fun but it wasn’t. Somehow this club just doesn’t flow and so even this was difficult and then just a bit weird.
My overall feeling about this club is that it is a local club for people who live in Holland. They are not big swingers, or even dancers for that matter. They do drink a lot, and the wine and beer are free, which is a nice touch. It is expensive, 100 euros, which is about $130 for Saturday night. A membership is required but it is inexpensive and for one year.
We have been to many, many clubs where we did not know anyone but have never found it as difficult to enjoy ourselves as we did here.
